This Saturday, July 7th, I will be undertaking my latest challenge to raise money for the Motor Neuron Disease Association.
The challenge is to walk the Welsh 3000s. To complete the challenge I need to summit 15 mountains in Snowdonia that have have a height of 3000 ft (914.4m) or more (in 1 day).
The length of the Welsh 3000’s from first peak to last is 26 miles, but including the walk to and from any start point, this will total some 30 miles.
I’ll be doing the walk with 4 other brave trekkers. Rosie (my lovely wife), Ali Upham (fellow Kilimanjaro walker), Andrew Peyman (super fit) and Mark Daunter (top man).
We start at the summit of Snowdon at 4am Saturday morning and then walk ..and walk…and walk some more. Training hasn’t quite gone to plan (we haven’t done any) so we are all rather apprehensive. But we will give it our best shot!
Any donations (and prayers) will be incredibly gratefully received.
To donate, please visit my Just Giving page here.
Wish us luck!
Tomorrow I will be leaving for Tanzania for a 10 day trek to (hopefully) to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro. Kilimanjaro is 5,895 metres or 19,341 ft high. That’s very high indeed. Photos and videos to follow when I get back.
Here is my latest Dare. 10 mins stand up comedy at the Brown Jug last Sunday night.

Following the success of our previous charity quiz night, and huge demand, we are delighted to announce Another DareBoy Charity Quiz Night. YAY!
If you missed out last time, here’s your chance to join a fun night of quizzing, a live music round (oh what a treat!), live dares (come on!), amazing raffle prizes, awards for the winning and losing teams, and a delicious chicken or veggie curry dish. All for £10 a ticket and all proceeds go to the Motor Neurone Disease Association in memory of my Dad, Mike Marsland.
Teams of 6 are best but individuals or smaller teams are welcome, just be prepared to be at a disadvantage (or advantage, depending on which way you look at it!). Get in touch with Rosie for further info on 07814 756039 or email email@example.com.
Or if you want to go straight ahead and book your tickets please do so online at www.justgiving.com/dareboy and remember to include your team name, food order and any live dare requests in the comments.
Here is dare #6, Daredads dance to hot stuff!
Special thanks to Mr P, Jon, Robb, Ian and Gareth for joining me on this one. And to Rosie and Tracy for such special choreography.
A big thank you to all those at work that donated for this dare (Peter, Ray and David). Special thanks to Peter for coming up with such a timely and funny idea (and a great t-shirt!).
I received a mysterious email yesterday.
I have included it, in its entirety below. This will be my dare #5. I will be doing this dare on Monday 3rd May in Cheltenham town centre at 12 noon. If anyone wants to join me I will see you there.
Have u got the courage to wear my shirt
Take a stroll round Cheltenham Town
Risk the citizens wrath while throwing their dirt
Even when the shout what a clown
Your dare should u wish to accept it is to wear my shirt uncovered, no jumpers, jackets, cardies, badges or other devious obstructions, together with pants and shoes of your choice, round Cheltenham shopping centre on Saturday 1st May 2010. You must start at WH Smiths in the High street at 12.00pm ( my spy can only do then) and walk round and into shops wearing just my shirt, taking self photos for your website every 15mins. You must do it for a minimum of I hour (that’s 60mins exactly) up to a maximum of 3 hours. You will receive my shirt tomorrow in the office!
If you survive I will donate £50 per hour. That’s significantly more than the minimum wage ( that the tories oppose) about the same for their reactionary “family tax credit” if all 3 hours are taken.
So the real question is are you really a DareBoy or just an old fashion ToryBoy?
